Sportsbook API
Sportsbook APIs exchange sports data, betting requests, ticket states and settlement outcomes with a betting platform.
The integration in practice
The core task is consistent state management: events and odds change quickly, while accepted bets and financial results must remain traceable.
Core interface requirements
- Sports events, markets, selections and odds updates.
- Bet placement responses, stake validation and ticket references.
- Suspensions, cancellations, settlements and result corrections.
- State synchronization, exposure checks and audit-friendly records.
Data feeds, trading responsibilities and settlement logic depend on the sportsbook model and chosen services.
How this connection takes shape
These steps describe the technical questions to resolve. The final implementation and deliverables are defined from the actual systems involved.
Choose the sportsbook boundary
Separate fixtures and odds feeds from bet placement, ticket management and actual risk or trading decisions. A sports feed alone is not a complete sportsbook service.
Map bet lifecycle events
Identify the authoritative system for bet acceptance, price changes, suspensions, partial results, cancellations and settlements.
Prepare correction handling
Design stable references so re-settlements and corrections can be processed without losing the original transaction history.
What we need to review
- Odds-data-only or full sportsbook requirement
- Provider model for bet acceptance and settlement
- Wallet, player identity and risk management ownership
Acceptance cases to plan
- Suspended markets stop accepting invalid selections.
- Settlement corrections are linked to the original ticket and balance entries.
- Missing or out-of-order odds updates do not silently replace an accepted bet.
Questions to resolve before delivery
Is a sports data feed the same as a sportsbook API?
No. An odds or fixtures feed supplies information; bet acceptance, ticket management and settlement require additional interfaces.
How are changed results handled?
Corrections need explicit states and reconciliation rules. Those are defined using the provider’s event and settlement model.
Is real-time odds delivery guaranteed?
Update behavior depends on the selected feed, transport protocol and service agreement. The scope should define freshness targets and behavior when data stalls.
Can settlement be handled by another system?
Yes, if ownership of the result and financial posting is explicit. The systems also need reconciliation rules for voids and corrections.
